Xenical–Orlistat is the prescription medication which is
developed for helping the obese people lose their weight if
appropriately combined with low-calories diet and exercise plans as
recommended by the qualified physicians. When taken Xenical–Orlistat
helps weight loss by stopping the digestion and absorption of fats
in the foods consumed. The enzymes in the intestine known as lipase
which is originally produced in the pancreas splits the fat from the
food enabling it to be absorbed into the body. Xenical-Orlistat
obstructs lipase function for stopping the split and absorption of
fats.
The absorbed fat is expelled through the stool. It could also be
used for averting weight regain after losing it. The persons having
their BMI of 30 and above are usually prescribed Xenical–Orlistat.
However, if other risk factors based on tests for arteriosclerosis
are present like high blood pressure or hypertension, diabetes and
increased cholesterol or triglyceride levels in the blood in the
people having BMI of 27 or above are also prescribed this
medication.
Several dietary vitamins like A, D, E and beta – carotene joins with
the fats and they do not absorb and are eradicated with the stools
in substantial quantities along with the fats when Xenical–Orlistat
is taken. Hence the patients who are taking Xenical–Orlistat should
also take multivitamins that are with fat soluble vitamins for
ascertaining that sufficient quantum of the vitamins are available
for absorption. For ensuring that the vitamins present in the
multivitamins are not attached to fats like the vitamins in the
diet, the multivitamins should be taken at least a couple of hours
before or after a few hours of ingesting Xenical–Orlistat.
